Oman’s national gateway to global trade

Oman International Container Terminal (OICT) is Oman’s primary import and export container terminal, handling up to 1.8 million TEU annually at the Port of Sohar.

OICT’s location is its strategic edge: positioned outside the Strait of Hormuz on the Gulf of Oman — around 200 km from Muscat and 160 km from Dubai — it offers shippers direct access to open sea without transiting one of the world’s most sensitive maritime chokepoints.

Operated since 2004 by Hutchison Ports, one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated port operators, OICT is a state-of-the-art facility capable of accommodating the latest generation of mega-vessels. It is, in the truest sense, national infrastructure — the gateway through which much of Oman’s trade with the world flows.

Rakiza holds a 31.25% interest in this nationally significant asset. Our asset management has focused on optimising the terminal’s capital structure and supporting throughput growth as Sohar continues to develop into a strategic regional trade hub.

As global shipping increasingly values routes that sit beyond the Strait of Hormuz, OICT’s position becomes more valuable still — and our role is to ensure the terminal is structured and supported to capture that growth, for Oman and for our investors.
