Oman Broadband Company (OBC) deploys, owns, and operates Oman’s national fibre network — the open-access wholesale infrastructure that internet service providers across the Sultanate rely on to deliver high-speed broadband.

As a wholesale, open-access operator, OBC underpins the entire market rather than competing within it: a single national network, shared by all providers, reaching 326,000 homes with market penetration of xx%.

OBC is foundational digital infrastructure, directly aligned with Oman’s National Digital Strategy and central to the country’s ambitions for a connected, digital economy. It is exactly the kind of essential and unique asset Rakiza was created to own.

Rakiza’s acquisition of a 39% stake in OBC marked a landmark privatisation of Oman’s digital infrastructure, establishing a commercially independent wholesale operator. As a partner, we understood both the strategic importance of the asset and how to improve it.

Our asset management has spanned capital restructuring and the deployment of capital for network expansion, alongside operational improvements across the business and the application of our regional relationships and leadership to support its growth.
